The Mississippi Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walk brings the community together to shed light on suicide awareness and prevention.
The walk offers participants an opportunity to make friends, find emotional support and build community. The walk raises funds for education, advocacy, research and support programs for those impacted by suicide. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. In Mississippi, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 15- 24. Veterans comprise 22.2% of suicides.
Last year’s walk raised over $2,000 and brought together so many participants. This year we set a fundraising goal of $5,000 and with the support of the community we will overpass The Climb.
